Katharine Tarkulich is a costume designer in the beautiful CNY region. She truly loves the collaboration process and using costumes to help tell stories and support the themes of each production. With decades of experience in theater, dance, and film on both sides of the United States, she combines an interest in research and depth psychology/character analysis with her vast knowledge of materials and construction techniques to make costume choices that reflect the characters’ world and inner selves.
During the pandemic, Katharine pivoted and started the label Originals by Katharine Tracy, taking her first and middle names (and drawing inspiration from her namesakes Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy) to sell one-of-a-kind upcycled fashions and work with private clients to create wearable heirlooms, bespoke costumes, and provide upscale alterations and customization on existing gowns, dresses, and costumes. Today she balances this private client work with her design and production contracts, enjoying the roots she has put down in her local community.
